dc.description.abstract[Abstract]: The TriCaRE methodology proposes conducting unplugged classroom educational activities in four phases: training, challenge, reinforcement, and projection. The objective is to enhance recall and reflection work, seeking to improve learning consolidation and increase student engagement. We conducted an application experience in the course Data Network Fundamentals, in the 2nd year of the Data Science Degree at the University of Murcia. We scheduled three sessions spaced three weeks apart. Each session includes training with solved exercises from previous exams, followed by two consecutive rounds of challenge and reinforcement in class. The results indicate that students struggle to distinguish conceptual errors from calculation or oversight errors. This may be due to a lack of mastery of concepts during evaluation, but also to a lack of metacognitive skills. We discuss the potential and shortcomings of TriCaRE for developing these skills, as well as its value to foster autonomous critical thinking.
