Abstract

[Abstract]: In line with the importance of the blue economy for all countries, even those less connected with the sea, this chapter presents a conceptual framework for sustainable financing in a blue economy. It offers an approach to the knowledge of the blue economy’s financing mechanism, especially about stakeholders involved in this process and their role in stimulating sustainable/unsustainable financing. Another critical issue analysed is the composition of blue sustainable funding. By seeking patterns and financial benchmarks for blue financing, some types were identified according to the financial market model and country group. On the other hand, the regulations and risk components are also taken into consideration in the blue financing mechanism. All the above let us set a new look at the financial markets and institutions, expand the theory in sustainable blue public and private finance, and include recommendations for sustainable blue financing by diagnosing the existing gaps.
