| dc.description.abstract | [Abstract] This article presents a state of the art regarding international immigration in rural and semi- urban areas, transitioning from a classic perspective centered on depopulation toward a complex understanding of multiple mobilities. It situates the Spanish case within the European framework, analyzing this phenomenon through the lenses of governance, political participation, the labor market, and social mobility, as well as the impact of diversity on social insertion and translocal development. The originality of the text lies in moving beyond the utilitarian view of the migrant as a mere “demographic fix”. By questioning the instrumental logic of repopulation, it proposes instead an approach focused on multilevel governance and the active agency of both individuals and territories. Finally, it provides key insights for the design of public policies that transcend short-term perspectives and recognize rural territories as dynamic, mobile spaces of innovation, mediation and political participation. | |
