Of roasted eggs and other Issues in the Celestina

Abstract

[Resumen] En este estudio se examinan algunos indicios provenientes de diversas fuentes que permiten avanzar la hipótesis de una primitiva Comedia de Calisto y Melibea traducida al italiano hacia 1501. El texto de esta hipotética traducción se configura diferente de los de las familias que han sobrevivido. Se analizan también unos errores significativos y variantes que solo se encuentran en la traducción italiana de la Tragicomedia que tienden a reforzar nuestra hipótesis de trabajo.

[Abstract] The study examines evidences from different sources that make it possible to advance the hypothesis of an early Comedia de Calisto and Melibea being translated into Italian as early as 1501. It would have belonged to a lost family different from those of the three editions of the Comedia that have survived. It also analyzes a few pertinent errors and variants that are found in the Italian translation of the Tragicomedia that reinforce my working hypothesis
