Abstract
[Abstract]: Two Studies on the Constitution and its Defence by Professor Pedro De Vega García marks the beginning of the Ibero-American Collection on Constitutional Sciences with this monograph on one of the most important jurists of the second half of the 20th century in all of Ibero-America. The richness of the work is also evident in the valuable comments provided by the President of this Collection, Professor Javier Ruipérez Alamillo, a disciple of Dr. De Vega and the main promoter of the methodology of Constitutional Sciences, which aims to study the Constitution through a multidisciplinary approach. The book is divided into three parts. In the first part, Professor Ruipérez analyses the work and the impact that Dr. De Vega García has had on Ibero-American legal thought. In the second and third parts, Ruipérez offers comments that complement Don Pedro's two articles, ‘Political Assumptions and Legal Criteria in the Defence of the Constitution: Some Peculiarities in the Spanish Constitutional Order’ and ‘The Crisis of the Political Concept of Constitution in the Social State’. The result is a theoretical debate that remains highly relevant to the analysis of issues relating to constitutional law and state sciences.
