Abstract
[Abstract] This article starts with the foundation of the House of Trade of Seville en 1504, and develops the subject of the centralized trade policy of the early Habsburgs in Spain, which also ran along with the ambitions of the merchants of the Cantabric Coast to par- ticipate in the luxury goods trade of spices from the Orient. These were the different rea- sons that gave way to the foundation of a House of Trade in A Coruña in 1522, which lasted until the King of Portugal made Emperor Charles to renounce his rights to the Moluccas.
