Abstract

[Abstract] The aim of this study was to examine the participation of schools registered in the 2024 Physical Education Day in the Streets (DEFC) to analyze the organization of the event and assess its educational and social potential. A total of 864 schools participated, with a sample of 533 included in the study. Data collection was conducted using a tailored questionnaire that covered five dimensions: a) demographic characteristics and professional data; b) willingness to participate; c) organizational challenges; d) impact; and e) available resources and support provided by the schools. Descriptive analyses were conducted using Excel, and the Chi-Square test, Cramer’s V, Kruskal-Wallis H test, and Dunn’s test were applied with SPSS v.25. Results indicate that DEFC has a positive impact on promoting active and healthy lifestyle habits among students and enhances the public visibility of Physical Education (PE). However, territorial disparities in participation were observed, with higher involvement in less populated regions and lower representation from secondary education levels. Organizationally, the event was primarily led by PE teachers, who faced significant challenges in planning and resource allocation, highlighting the need for greater institutional support. DEFC was held predominantly in urban outdoor spaces, fostering community engagement, yet revealing logistical limitations within the schools. Despite the DEFC's potential to encourage active behaviors and improve the social standing of EF, it is recommended that its organizational proposal be reviewed and its long-term impact further assessed.
