Abstract
[Abstract] In this work, it is shown the relevance of the important flow of cultured voices related to names of plants incorporated by Dr. Andrés Laguna in his Spanish translation of the Dioscórides, a very important work on the history of medical and pharmacological treatises. Those plant species already had a common designation in the Spanish language of the sixteenth century, so the inclusion of a cult equivalent implies that a specialized designation for the simple plants which appear in the work was intended to be stablished. The purpose of this study is, therefore, to investigate in what way these literary words that acted as technical voices in the Dioscórides have been perpetuated in later Spanish lexicography. We will see to what extent these terms appear in the lexicographical works contained in the Nuevo tesoro lexicográfico de la lengua española (NTLLE: ‘New Lexicographical Treasure of the Spanish Language’) and what way those works have treated the specialized voices documented in the Dioscórides by Dr. Andrés Laguna
