Abstract
[Resumo] Os xardíns botánicos de hoxe en día desenvolven funcións que van máis alá das relacionadas co estudo e a conservación da diversidade vexetal. A educación ambiental converteuse nun dos principais puntos de preocupación para os xardíns botánicos e moitos destes aspiran a promover a idea de desenvolvemento sustentable nos seus visitantes. Porén, é posible que algúns dos programas educativos desenvolvidos nos xardíns botánicos presenten carencias respecto aos verdadeiros obxectivos da educación ambiental. Cuestións como a participación e o compromiso teñen que ser tidas en conta á hora de deseñarmos os programas educativos, para o cal son fundamentais aspectos como a avaliación e a investigación educativa
[Abstract] The botanic gardens carry out functions beyond those related to conservation of vegetative diversity. The environmental education has become one of the main concerns for botanic gardens promoting in visitors the idea of sustainable development. Nevertheless, it is possible that some educational programs were lacking in the environmental education’s true objectives, such as participation and commitment. Therefore, to outline the educational programs it is fundamentally important to consider evaluation and educational research.
