Abstract
[Resumo] Neste artigo indágase na actividad e das academias escolares ou literarias vence liadas a algunhas das
facultades da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela a mediados do século XIX. Faise especial
referencia ás de maior contido científico, comparando a súa orixe e desenvolvemento coa da Academia
Médica de Emulación, institución chave na introducción da investigación científica en Galicia. Valóranse
os aspectos que posibilitaron innovacións no eido educativo, así como aqueles que permitiron que a acti-
vidade científica desenvolvida acadara altas cotas de institucionalización, interdisciplinaridade, relevan-
cia, difusión e recoñecemento.
[Abstract] In this paper, we inquire into activities 01 Literary Academies (students' academies) linked to University of Santiago de Compostela faculties during the mid XIXth Century. We pay special attention to academies with greater scientific content and their origin and development are compared with Academia Médica de Emulación. This was a key institution to introduction scientific research in Galicia. The factors what made possible innovations into educational lields are valued, just like other factors that facilitaled scientific aclivily would gel high level 01 organisalion, inlerdisciplinary nature, oulslanding, dif- fusion and recognition.
