Abstract
[Resumo] No presente proxecto realízase un estudo actualizado das redes definidas por software (SDN),
detallando as características e vantaxes que presentan fronte ás redes convencionais á hora de
xestionar a conectividade dos equipos en entornos cambiantes e escalables. Nesta liña, analízanse
os diferentes compoñentes que conforman as SDN e o protocolo (OpenFlow) que os
comunica. Ademáis, proporciónanse tres prototipos lixeiros para que un usuario novel poida
iniciarse na práctica con este novo paradigma de forma sinxela, realizando unha comparativa
a nivel técnico e funcional dos mesmos. Estes prototipos están baseados en tres tipos de virtualización
distintas: Mininet (virtualización de procesos), Máquinas Virtuais (virtualización
basada en hipervisor) e Docker (virtualización por compartición de kernel).
[Abstract] This project provides an updated study of software-defined networks (SDN), detailing the features and advantages they present over conventional networks when managing hosts connectivity in changing and scalable environments. In this line, the different components that make up the SDN and the protocol (OpenFlow) that communicates them are analyzed. In addition, three lightweight prototypes are provided so that a novice user can get started in the practice with this new paradigm in a simple way, making a comparison at technical and functional level of them. These prototypes are based on three different types of virtualization: process virtualization (Mininet), hypervisor-based virtualization (Virtual Machines) and kernel sharing virtualization (Docker).
