La brecha digital de género en España

Abstract

[Abstract] The ICT represents an emergent social phonomenon where it is possible to verify behaviors and attitudes differed by gender. In fact, their use and Knowledge suppose a new dimension of inequality, constituting an authentic digital divide. This is so disturbing, or more, that the present according to other variable as age or social class. The work presents a detailed profile of the use of the ICT according to gender, selecting several of the most present in the Spanish society. However, above the use, the objective isto enlarge the investigation in other fundmental aspects: those referred to the processes of introduction of the ICT at homes, as well as the learning systems and transmission of knowiedge around them. In all these aspects, the variable gender shows a fundamental differentiation, although it is necessary, in most of occasions, to combine it with the age, since the generations behaviors are different.

[Resumen] Las TIC representan un emergente fenómeno social donde es posible verificar comportamientos y actitudes diferenciados por género. De hecho, su uso y conocimiento suponen una nueva dimensión de desigualdad, constituyendo una auténtica “brecha digital”. Esta es tan preocupante, o más, que la presente según otras variables como edad o clase social. El trabajo presenta un perfil detallado de la utilización de las TIC según género, seleccionando varias de las más presentes en la sociedad española. Sin embargo, por encima del manejo, el objetivo es ampliar la investigación en otros aspectos fundamentales: los referidos a los procesos de introducción de las TIC en los hogares, así como los sistemas de aprendizaje y transmisión de conocimientos en torno a ellas. En todos estos aspectos, la variable género muestra una diferenciación fundamental, si bien es preciso, en la mayoría de ocasiones, combinarla con la edad, ya que los comportamientos generacionales son diferentes.
