Abstract
[Abstract] This chapter complements the previous one in that it deals with the nineteenth-century texts
we have included in the Corpus of English Life Sciences Texts, CELiST, one of the corpora
in the Coruña Corpus of English Scientific Writing. The chapter describes important facts
that affected the publication of those works in the nineteenth century, when science is
developing very quickly and in many different fields. We provide complete bibliographical
information about the works sampled in CELiST and also information regarding its
reception and, therefore, the dissemination of knowledge. Some editorial decisions on the
part of the corpus compilers are also discussed and the process of publication of the works
between 1800 and 1900 as they reveal much about the society in which they were
conceived
