Abstract
[Resumen]: El artículo realiza una revisión historiográfica de la figura de los comerciantes-banqueros en España desde comienzos del siglo xix hasta la Restauración Borbónica. Además, a partir de diversas fuentes y trabajos publicados, se realiza una aproximación cuantitativa al número de
banqueros privados que ejercieron esta profesión, sus orígenes, sus rasgos básicos y su introducción
en las elites del poder contemporáneas. [Abstract]: The article makes a historiographic review of the merchants-bankers in Spain from
the beginning of the 19th century until the Bourbon Restoration. Besides, with diverse sources and
published works, a quantitative approach is made to the number of private bankers who exercised
this profession, to its origins and basic features, besides its involvement to the contemporary elites
of power.
