Abstract
por Jeffrey Alexander para analizar la narrativa binaria registrada en la prensa escrita [Abstract] The purpose of this article was the elaboration of general interpretations of the symbolic social
action of the self-defense groups in hot land (Michoacán), which reinforced the construction of a
punitive state discourse against organized crime, whose importance was based on the legitimation
of the armed state intervention in the regions considered as “hostages” of the so-called organized
crime. This fact generated an uncivil social discourse contrary to civil values, identified with a
horizontal and inclusive solidarity, but expressed as a binary discourse (sacred/profane), for this
reason, the methodology proposed by Jeffrey Alexander was used to analyze the binary narrative
recorded in the written press
