Resumen
[Resumen] Este artículo presenta una descripción (en sentido rortiano) del marketing capaz de hacer frente a las principales críticas que se lanzan contra el mismo. Se comienza haciendo un repaso de dichas críticas, para posteriormente analizar tres variedades empresariales en las cuales el marketing tradicional contribuye al logro de beneficios sociales: las cooperativas, las empresas sociales y las empresas de base comunitaria. Luego, se presenta el marketing social, cuyo principal objetivo es difundir ideas beneficiosas para toda la sociedad. Después se introduce el ‘marketing de liberación’ propiamente dicho, encaminado a liberar a los consumidores de ciertas prácticas negativas del propio marketing. El texto finaliza con unas reflexiones que tratan de poner en relación el enfoque aquí presentado con los conceptos de emancipación y alienación. [Abstract] This article presents a description (in the Rortyan sense) of marketing that challenges
the criticisms most commonly levelled against it. The study begins with a review of these
criticisms, before moving on to analyse three types of business organisation in which traditional marketing contributes to the achievement of social benefits: cooperatives,
social enterprises, and community-based enterprises. The analysis then looks at social
marketing, whose main objective is the dissemination of ideas that benefit society as a
whole. Finally, the article presents the idea of ‘liberation marketing’, a marketing aimed
at freeing consumers from certain negative marketing practices. The text ends with a
series of reflections that attempt to show the relationship between the author’s view
of marketing and the conflicting notions of alienation and emancipation.
