The Bohemian Girl de William Balfe y Alfred Bunn a través de algunos fragmentos significativos

Abstract

[Resumen] En este artículo se ofrece una visión general de la ópera The Bohemian Girl de William Balfe (música) y Alfred Bunn (libreto). A partir de una presentación detallada del argumento, nos centramos en el análisis musical de tres arias, si bien hacemos referencia a otros fragmentos importantes de la obra. Como conclusión, y teniendo en cuenta sus valores musicales, así como el éxito que tuvo en la época de su estreno, planteamos la recuperación e inclusión de The Bohemian Girl en el repertorio habitual de los teatros de ópera.

[Abstract] In this essay we offer an overview of the opera The Bohemian Girl by William Balfe (music) and Alfred Bunn (libretto). Beginning with a detailed presentation of the plot, we focus on the musical analysis of three arias, but we make reference to other important sections of the opera. As a conclusion, and taking into account its musical values, and also its success at the time of its première, we propose the recovery and the inclusion of The Bohemian Girl in the current repertoire of opera theatres
